‘Windlenot’s Fireplace’ is one of the hiding places in the game ‘Shivers‘.

The fireplace in Professor Windlenot's Office is actually a functional fireplace. Given the office’s location, it could be thought that the fireplace is not a functioning one, but there is evidence to prove otherwise. There is a pile of ash in the fireplace, showing that it had been used at some point.
In the course of the game, the fireplace becomes one of the locations the Ash Ixupi can hide in. Since the fireplace has not been cleaned out over the years, the ash from the last fire burned is a perfect spot for it to attack from. It is possible that prior to its release into the world, the Fire Ixupi was using the same thought process.
